Pregnant and Living on Campus: What Are My Options?

Finding out you’re pregnant while living on campus puts a decision in front of you before you were ready for one. You need accurate information before anything else.

Schedule a free, confidential appointment at The Hope Bridge Pregnancy Resource Center in Wylie today.

Your Three Options

Whether you’re at Collin College or another area campus, three paths are available: parenting, adoption, and abortion.

Parenting. The Hope Bridge’s Building Blocks Mentorship program provides one-on-one guidance on pregnancy, newborn care, and parenting skills, helping you build confidence alongside your coursework.

Adoption. This option allows you to continue your education while making a plan for your child’s future. Many arrangements cover pregnancy-related medical costs, and you choose the level of contact going forward. The Hope Bridge can share information on reputable agencies.

Abortion. Texas has a near-total abortion ban, with exceptions only for certain medical emergencies. This significantly limits access within the state. Before taking any steps, confirming gestational age and the location of the pregnancy are essential first steps. The Hope Bridge can provide factual information about the legal landscape and associated health risks.

Your Rights as a Student

Under Title IX, federally funded schools cannot discriminate against pregnant or parenting students. Your school cannot remove you from a class, must provide academic accommodations, and must allow makeup work.

Financial aid is also protected. Your Title IX coordinator can explain how these protections apply to your enrollment.

Confirm the Details First

A positive home test is a starting point. A free ultrasound at The Hope Bridge tells you how far along the pregnancy is, where the pregnancy is located, and whether the pregnancy is developing normally. That is very helpful information as you map out your next steps.

Take the Next Step

The Hope Bridge offers free pregnancy testing, free ultrasounds, and one-on-one mentorship. All services are free and confidential.
